Year 9 Technology students make some beautiful wooden products

3 December 2015

Year 9 Product Design students worked on two projects this semester, and the focus was to produce unique quality items that answered a particular function within a design brief. The first product, a decorative box with lid, was created to show how to use contrasting timbers as a design feature. On completion, the students had familiarised themselves with workshop safety, learned new skills and the potential of the available tools.

The second and more challenging product was a small table lamp. This emphasised alternative materials and joining methods featuring spline and mitre joins, routing and finish types to create a large variety of unique lamps. Click on the pictures below to see two of them.

The students obviously enjoyed the chance to use the workshop and display their talents.
