New beginnings in the shark tank

19 February 2015

Luke H

It is with great excitement that I introduce myself as the new Hilary House coordinator. Having spent most of the last 15 years in Brisbane I am eager to begin this new phase of my career at Assumption College. It has been a busy start to the year and one which has confirmed within me that this will be a great move.

The year 7s have successfully navigated their way through the first weeks of the school year and they appear to be an enthusiastic, friendly and capable group. I look forward to watching them develop while in Hilary.

Our House Captains, Harrison Lubeck and Alexandra White, have already impressed upon me why they were elected. They have developed some great ideas to create a culture of involvement and togetherness within this great house. The desire they have to lead Hilary is encouraging, and I feel that we will have a positive year under their leadership.

The swimming carnival on Tuesday was a great opportunity for the students of Hilary to demonstrate their house spirit by participating in races, novelty events and cheering home their housemates. I encouraged all students to wear their white house shirts and involve themselves as much as possible. Our goal was participation, and we endeavoured to have no empty lanes. We again finished in second place.

I look forward to meeting all parents throughout the year and invite Hilary families to attend the house welcome barbecue on Thursday February 26 at 5pm.

If you have any concerns, questions or stories of success about your son or daughter please don’t hesitate to contact me.
