The college is pleased to announce a new curriculum structure in 2017. These learning experiences are aimed at equipping students with the core knowledge and skills to prepare them to be good citizens in a vastly changing world. To help them adapt to these rapid changes we aim to instill a love of lifelong learning.
The curriculum at years 7 and 8 focuses on subjects that offer breadth and balance, where students study all areas of the Victorian curriculum, and are exposed to an array of digital and design technologies. They begin to make elective choices in years 9 and 10 where the focus is on pathways and choice. Students can select up to 16 semester-based electives over these years, providing a highly personalised learning experience and promoting student ownership of their own education.
In the senior years, up to 30 VCE studies are offered, as well as numerous VET and VCAL courses and school-based apprenticeships. With our own trade training centre, students can obtain hospitality certificates and each fortnight during term these students staff our Marlhes Restaurant, an example of the quality of work achieved through their VET studies.
As our senior students consider subject selection for 2017, we have produced three booklets to help them:
