An equestrian update

I attended the Victorian Equestrian Interschool Series Grand Final on Sunday, August 7, competing in dressage, along with Georgia Barbic, Isabella Robertson Dixon, Anna Gurnett and Brooke Pearse. I qualified for this huge event throughout the year and accumulated enough series points at previous equestrian qualifiers.

It has been very difficult to combine training for these equestrian events and my year 12 studies, however, I have managed to achieve this with a lot of support from my family, friends and coach.

In the grand final I completed two dressage tests and placed in both.  In the first test I placed third and in the second test I placed fourth  which meant I placed third overall for the event.  I was pleased with this effort as I have only had my horse Karingal Raphael (Raff) since last October, and didn’t start training with him until February. With many lessons and support from my parents I have successfully competed with him and have formed a strong bond.

At the end of the day it was announced that I had achieved Reserve Champion for my division (Senior Preliminary) and qualified for the Australian Interschool Championships in Sydney from September 25 to 29 as part of the Victorian interschool team. Therefore, I'll be heading to Sydney to represent Assumption College and Victoria, an honour which means a great deal, especially as it will be my final ACK event.
