Former student Kate (Banks) Steers, ACK 2000, recently gave a lunchtime talk to students about nursing. She outlined the course, work placement and additional courses that can be done once you are qualified. Kate also spoke about pathways into nursing if you do not achieve the required ATAR. Her main message was that there is always a way if you want something badly enough.
Our next lunchtime chat will be on Friday, September 2 where we will be hosting two talks at the same time. Maddison Hardiman will talk about his pathway into law and Tyson Hunter who will talk about his career in media, advertising and graphic design.
Students wanting to attend either of these talks should email me to book a place before Thursday, September 1.
As we are a partnership school with La Trobe University, ACK students can apply for the Vice-Chancellor's Excellence Scholarship. This scholarship is worth $6000 per year for the duration of an undergraduate degree. To apply, students need to complete the application form that I sent them, write a personal statement about how they can demonstrate the values required and supply their years 11 & 12 reports. All this needs to be given to me by Friday October 7.
August 31 – Early entry to La Trobe (Aspire) applications are due.
September 6 – All subject selections for students in years 8 to 11 are due.
September 29 – Year 12 VTAC applications should be completed.
October 4 – Special Entrance Access Scheme (SEAS) applications are due.
October 14 – VTAC scholarship applications are due.
October 17 – Early entry to ACU (EAP) applications are due.
