11 August 2016
Over the last two weeks I have used PowerPoint presentations to explain to the year 12s how to apply for tertiary courses, the Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) and scholarships for 2017. These PowerPoints have been emailed to the students but they can also be found on the Career Library page
Students will need to keep the following dates in mind:
VTAC applications are now open.
The closing date for timely applications, which cost $32, is September 29.
The cost of late applications goes up every month after this date.
The closing date for SEAS applications is October 4.
The closing date for VTAC scholarship applications is October 14.
Subject selection information sessions have started for year 10 students. Mr Cleary spoke to them about the different senior certificates available to them. The online web preferences and further information for students and parents will be available by the end of next week. This information will be available on the Career Library page and via PAM.
Students will be supported through this process by their vocational pathway teacher and members of the pathway team. They have already received a booklet from the VCAA about how to choose subjects and will be shown how to complete their online preferences next week.
Information sessions for year 9 and 11 students will be run over the next few days. These students will be supported by their pastoral care teachers and members of the pathway team if they need additional support. All subject selections will close on Tuesday, September 6.
Parents are welcome to make an appointment with a member of the pathway team if they need further details about subject selection. The online booking links for Carol Fisher, Tonya Frost and me are on the Simon home page.
