31 August 2017
I was among four girls who represented Assumption College at the VEIS (Victorian Equestrian Interschool Series) Grand Final in Dressage on August 5.
Anna Gurnett, Isabella Robertson-Dickson and I competed in the Elementary class against a tough field while battling a strong wind.
In the first test, with some very high scores, Anna placed 5th with 70%, Isabella place 4th with 70.4% and I placed 1st with 74.5%.
Then in the second test we managed to pull off 1st (me, with 68%), 2nd (Anna, with 64%) and 3rd place (Isabella, with 63%). Winning both tests, I was named champion elementary rider for the day.
This was a super effort by our team and we were all pleased with how our horses performed.
As this was the grand final for the series, there were also the series overall placings. With four events in the series, Isabella attended all events, accumulating a good number of points with several wins. She and her horse Avella Frantellino won the Elementary series for the year. I managed 5th overall after attending two of the four events and Anna placed 7th for the series after competing in only the grand final.
Brooke Pearse also competed at the grand final, however, she competed in the Advanced section placing 1st in the 5.2 and 2nd in the 5.3, and named champion for the day in the advanced section. Overall in the series, Brooke placed 1st after attending two of the four events. This also qualified Brooke for the September nationals in Toowoomba.
I was also asked to represent Victoria at the nationals for the Elementary class, which is very exciting. (Click on photos below to see the girls competing).
