ACK Sport

9 March 2017

Two Assumption College athletes came away with state titles from the recent Victorian Track and Field Championships.

Year 12 student Hayley Phillips won the U-18 high jump in a personal best of 1.72m. Training twice a week in Melbourne, Hayley is showing steady improvement in her jumping and has good form at the right time of the year with National Championships three weeks away. We wish her the best of luck.

Year 9 student Ryan Blair is an up and coming thrower, winning two state titles in the U-15 shot put and discus. He has recently picked up the javelin, and although still mastering the techniques, has won a bronze medal, qualifying him for three events at the National Championships in Sydney.

Both students already hold ACK athletic records, and we look forward to watching these two outstanding role models in action as they represent ACK at the AGSV Athletic Championships in term 3.

Most AGSV summer sport ended last weekend with many of our teams finishing the season in strong positions. The  First XI cricket side completed their season with a strong victory over Yarra Valley and showed promising signs for next season. The girls softball program continued its good form with only one loss across the three teams for the entire season.

Winter firsts teams have begun training, and we look forward to the season ahead.
