Thanks to the generosity of Mr Nigel Engel, we can offer three responsible service of alcohol courses (Victorian certificates) for our year 12s. Each class has a maximum of 20 students. The courses will be held on May 28, July 30 and August 13 between 5 and 9.30pm. The cost is $25 and includes a light meal and drinks.
To book and pay for a place in one of these courses, click here. All those completing this course must obtain a unique student identifier (USI) by going online and applying for one. Instructions have been emailed to students. Anyone completing a VET or SBAT course will already have a USI.
Students must give me their USIs within a week of booking a course so that I can enrol them. If I do not receive a student's USI, his or her place will be forfeited.
You don't have to be 18 to complete the course but must be 18 to use the certificate.
Carol Fisher and I will be running a two-night workshop for parents of year 9 and 10 students about how to help your children transition from year 10 into one of the senior certificates – VCE or VCAL - as well as supporting them after year 12.
Topics covered include: finding out how students make career decisions; current trends in the employment market; what we at ACK do to help students thinking about options after years 9 and 10; the best way to select appropriate senior certificates; subjects offered at ACK and the subject selection process; using interest-based tests as a guide to career choices; the best way to discuss career choices with your child and more.
Parents must commit to both nights, and dates for this workshop are Monday, May 11 and Tuesday, May 12 from 7 to 8.30pm. To book a place, click here. We have to limit the group size so bookings are essential.
