The year 9 Café Creations group has spent the last two weeks improving their recipe reading skills in preparation for their Café Design Brief task. Students have made wholemeal penne with homemade pesto and cherry tomatoes, and a delicious chicken Caesar salad with homemade mayonnaise. Both recipes were discussed by the group and only partly demonstrated to provide students with the opportunity to follow the instructions themselves.
We are fortunate to have vegetarians in our group who demonstrated an alternative non-meat version of what was made and something which is readily available in cafes today. Ella and Maddie enjoyed tasty roasted chickpeas with their Caesar salad.
