Over 300 students began their journey at Assumption College on Thursday, 31 January when the College welcomed all Year 7 and new students from Years 8-12 for the 2019 school year.
Year 7 students and parents / guardians were welcomed at an assembly in the Gonzales Centre by Middle School Leader Peter Augustin where one of our 2019 school captains, Mardie Hamilton lit the school candle in prayer.
Principal Kate Fogarty welcomed all 235 new Year 7s who have come to the College form 46 different primary schools and is the biggest ever intake of students in Year 7 in the College’s history.
She encouraged all the new students to ask questions and not to worry if they were feeling nervous as it is quite natural. She wished them all a great start to their time at Assumption and hoped their connection to the College happens very quickly and they can feel proud to wear their blazer and say they attend Assumption College.
The 55 new students from Years 8-12 were also welcomed at a special assembly after meeting their Learning Mentors where Ms Fogarty again reiterated her welcome and encouraged these older students to take advantage of all the opportunities on offer at Assumption.
Deputy Principal – Wellness Mark Williamson also welcomed the new students letting them know his door is always open to them and that he looked forward to meeting them all personally.
