AFLW Achievements

While Assumption College has long been known for its male former collegians who have reached the pinnacle of success in both VFL and AFL competitions, the College is equally proud of its female past students who have joined the ranks of the ever popular AFL Women's league.

AFLW 2018

AFLW acknowledgments were made to former female students:

Jessica Kennedy  - Class of 2008

Drafted to Carlton as a free agent for the 2017 inaugural AFLW season, Jessica was known for her speed through the midfield for the Blues.

Unfortunately delisted from the side at the end of her debut season, Jessica returned to her VFLW side Bendigo Thunder for 2018 but has signed with  Richmond  for the VFLW season in 2019.

The Tigers will field a side in the AFLW competition in 2020.

Christina Bernardi – Class of 2008

Drafted alongside 13 other team mates from her VFLW team Darebin Falcons, Christina had a strong debut season in 2017 but really stood tall in 2018 when her efforts for the Pies saw her named in the AFL Women's All Australian team and also the  Leading Goalkicker for Collingwood.

Ahead of the 2019 season, Christina has been traded to Greater Western Sydney (GWS).

Clare Lawton – Class of 2011

Clare was drafted by Greater Western Sydney (GWS) with their 11th selection in the 2016 AFLW draft for the 2017 season where she made her debut against Adelaide. While delisted from GWS at the end of the 2017 season after seven games, she joined the QWAFL competition following a move to Enoggera in Queensland through her role as an ADF officer

She is hopeful of a return to the AFLW competition in 2019.

Chloe Molloy – Class of 2016 – Collingwood

Chloe was drafted by Collingwood  with the club's first pick in the 2017 draft. She made her 2018 debut in round 1 against Carlton  a game high 20 disposals saw her receive a Rising Star nomination for teh effort. She eventually won this award, placed second in the leagues best and fairest for 2018 and won Collingwood's best and fairest award for 2018.


She has resigned with Collngwood for the 2019 season, however has suffered a serious lisfranc injury which has ruled her out for the whole 2019 season.
