5 February 2015
This is the theme that Marist schools have adopted for the year, and it follows on from the last three annual themes and completes them. Those themes focused on personal faith, community and service, and the theme of love is where each of these elements is found and expressed.
Just Love: hearts without borders, invites us to reach beyond what is familiar and comfortable, to be witnesses in the world to God’s justice through a love that is inclusive. We are encouraged to move away from our comfort zones to meet those at the margins and go out of our way to meet them where they are by being generous, accepting, healing and hospitable people.
As Marists, we are encouraged to imitate Jesus as one who embraced difference and new horizons. If we stand still, the horizon does not change, it is only by us moving towards it that change occurs. By moving towards those on the margins, towards the vulnerable, we can become people of action and people of love.
Opening College Mass
This Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 13 at 9am in the Gonzales Centre. During the morning Miss Kate Fogarty will be commissioned as the 27th principal of Assumption College, our student leaders will be inducted and our high academic achievers of 2014 will be acknowledged.
I invite family and friends of the College to join us for our first Mass of the year; you will be made most welcome.
