It might sound new, but personalised learning is not a recent idea. It stems from best practice in education and has the capacity to allow each student’s learning experience to be one that promotes growth and success, by providing an educational path that reflects each student’s needs, interests and aspirations.

is our model for personalised learning
As each student travels through four years of myMAP, they select a personalised program that is founded on the principles of:
Mastery
Mastery is the capacity for deep learning within a particular subject area. Learners of today need the capacity to solve complex problems through patience, practice and perseverance.
Autonomy
Autonomy grows when we have voice and choice. With the help and support of expert adults, including their parents, the myMAP learning program empowers students to have ownership of their learning, and to set their pace, targets and itinerary.
Purpose
Meaningful learning experiences connect human beings with knowledge and skills in powerful ways. myMAP helps students create meaning and connect their learning to the world beyond our school.
Complementing our academic program is myBeing, a 7-12 program where the social and emotional development of each student is fostered.
myBeing focuses on:
personal relationship building
learning to learn
food, nutrition and education
safety (online, physical and personal safety)
vocational pathways
mindfulness
digital technology

Learning
Traditional schooling is a tiered and fixed system of learning where students are grouped by their age. This system of learning has never reflected the vastly different learning needs of students of a comparative age, but has been the dominant model for schools for generations. Many schools now recognise there are far better ways to cater for, and inspire, student learning in all its forms. Students are supported by subject teachers, learning mentors and families as they make informed decision about subject choice, appropriate levels and senior pathways.
The Levels of Learning
In myMAP, the distinct colours of our College Crest represent the levels of learning built on a Sandstone foundation:
Sandstone level courses are foundational courses, assessed against level 7 of the Victorian Curriculum.
White level learning experiences are assessed against level 8 of the Victorian Curriculum.
Yellow provides a more enriched experience and typically relate to level 9 of the Victorian Curriculum.
Light Blue subjects align to level 10 of the Victorian Curriculum.
Dark Blue courses are mapped to level 10 of the Victorian Curriculum and beyond.
In addition to subjects that align to one particular level of the Victorian Curriculum, some courses will be multi-level. For example, a subject such as Creative Writing could be offered to students across all levels of myMAP.
Below is a visual representation of some subject areas and the levels of learning. Multiple courses are offered across all areas found within the Victorian Curriculum. Individual icons have been created across all level areas. Each year, the ‘Learning Domains Guide’ & ‘Interactive Course Builder’ will explain the options in detail.
Understanding the subject icons used across this website
Each Learning Domain is represented by a symbol and then a colour that corresponds with the curriculum level of the subject within a Domain. Multiple courses are offered across all areas in the Victorian Curriculum.
