Assumption College

The Pavilion

FROM THEN TO NOW

HISTORY

history

Turning the first sod took place on the new pavilion site in February 2021 by Kate Fogarty, Assumption College Principal, and Neale Daniher, AO.

This was an important milestone in the journey of the Assumption College Sporting and Community Pavilion development. The building was then officially opened on Friday, 29 April 2022.

The College is extremely proud to be able to name the Sporting and Community pavilion in honour of Neale Daniher. He is a great Victorian, role model and much-loved alumnus (Class of 1978).

The pavilion will forever cement the Daniher name in concrete as a famous former AFL player, coach and prominent motor neurone disease campaigner. Neale is a sporting legend and known also for his spirit and generosity amidst adversity.

This space is a testament to the commitment and community spirit of all those who have helped make Assumption what it is today. It is with thanks to the wonderful generosity of our community that this new Community and Sports Pavilion has been made possible.

The establishment of our new Assumption Community Pavilion will rest on four pillars:

  • Sporting Excellence
  • Home for Alumni
  • Learning Place
  • Community Engagement
